Whittucks Road
Printmaking residency at 37 Whittucks Road South Gloucestershire which is a residential rehabilitation and recovery unit for people with mental health problems as part of “Moving on: Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust with Willis Newton- unlocking potential through arts”.
I collaborated with service users and staff through printmaking workshops to produce artwork for 4 areas in the unit. All artwork was realized with the participation and involvement of service users using a variety of printmaking techniques.
I was required to design, write up and present a detailed design proposal. I collected ideas and opinions from both staff and service users so everyone could feel proud of their involvement. I designed and delivered a series of printmaking workshops where I introduced the service users to many different printmaking techniques. As a group we then decided on location, size, theme and colour scheme for the artwork in the unit. I developed the information and ideas collected to create design solution that were fit for purpose and made the most of the space available. I worked up a detailed design proposal for approval by service users and staff taking into account the health and safety issues associated with a medical facility. Service users participated in the fabrication of the artworks using the printmaking techniques I had taught them
